I downloaded the flip clock widget from the apple website, but it is unable to be opened as it is not 'apple designed' software. How can I open this? Is is safe to open this? Why would this be on the apple website if it can not be opened or not safe to open?


Can someone please help?

It can be opened. However, the widget is too old to be detected as an application created by an identified developer, and Gatekeeper does not allow you to open it > http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5290


You have two options to open this widget:


1. Right-click it and select Open.

2. Open System Preferences > Security and Privacy > General, and select “Anywhere” under “Allow applications downloaded from”.
