Even after a clean install of Mavericks my MacBook Pro Mid 2007 is having trouble with the keyboard/mouse. Both have dropouts and then stop working entirely at random moments. Only a hard reset will solve this problem. Any ideas? Are there firmware updates available?

Apple issued a firmware update for this issue back in October. You should be able to download it via the App store. In the meantime, closing the lid for a couple of minutes also corrects the problem.
Thanks for the quick reply. But where to find the latest firmware update in the App store? Here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1237 it doesn`t show any updates from 2013. Only updates I already installed back in 2009:
Go to the apple downloads page, support.apple.com/downloads , and download the latest file in the notebooks section. It says it's "recommended" for late 2013 RMBP but that doesn't you'll be able to download it anyway. It's meant to solve trackpad and keyboard issues. Hope this helps!
Thanks kevkear! I just tried installing it but it says "this software is not supported by your system", unfortunately. Guess I`m gonna visit the next Apple store … There must be a way to solve this!

Funfact: Switched the laptop off for a night. Since then (monday): no more dropouts!
