Can I delete files in "All My Files" under Finder and Favorites without deleting them in the actual folders? If they will be deleted from the original folders then how do I put them on the external hard drive to save the documents, photos, and videos?

Now, what is "Finder App"? "Switch to the Finder app and open its preferences" Are you implying Macs "Finder"? If so how do I find this Preferences? If its a special app that needs to be purchased it would help to mention this. DETAIL.

Thank you and as I did what you said I said to myself daaaa!!! Whenever I hear APP on mac I automatically think of "APP Store". I am new to mac being a Windows and DOS user for 26 years or so and have been with mac for under 5 years. I still use Windows and I get lost in the vocabulary and thought process. Switch to the Finder app and open its preferences.

Remove the check mark on the items you don't want displayed in the Sidebar tab.

The originals are not removed from the machine.

Finder app is the Mac Finder. The preferences are in the same place as every app, click on the name on the menu bar.
