Cracked iPad screen.

Ok hi, well my IPad was sitting flat on my desk when my cat jumped from my bed side table onto it. The iPad has a steady case but when y cat landed onto the iPad it cracked. I heard it make the crack sound so I know it didn't happen before that. But I was wondering if it would be possible to get it replaced, I wouldn't of thought the screen should of cracked due to a cat jumping on it from the less then a meter and absolutely no force behind the jump. I only recently bought the iPad, less than a month ago. Thanks you for any feedback received.

If you want you can ask a genius at the apple store for their personal decision on the store front side but honestly your story doesn't sound to hard to believe nor does it sound like an exception case.
