Erasing Time Capule

I'm erasing my Time Capsules hard drive using the "35-Pass Erase" option.... It said estimated time 10 hours and 30 minutes and it's on 1 of 35.

Does this mean it will take around 10 hours to complete each erase cycle until it reaches 35 of 35?

So that's a total of 10 hours x 35 ????

If I cancel/stop the erase after 1 complete cycle..... Will be data be safely gone? Because I'm giving this TC to someone else, so I want to remove all my backs up from it before I give it.

Please advise ASAP, because I can't wait for 10 hours x 35 to complete if that is the case.

Thanks.

There will be nothing but zeros on the drive after one pass.

When that is done, then go back and do a Quick Erase, which will only take a few minutes.
