Q: Back to My Mac Connection Failed when outside LAN
I have an iMac with Mavericks at home on an Airport Extreme, and Airport Express extending network, and an Apple TV on the LAN. The Airport Express reports that icloud account is correctly enabled, and the iMac shows that the iCloud is setup with Back to My Mac indicating green icon.
I have a MacBook Pro 2,2 with 10.7.5. ICloud account shows active and works as expected.
When on the LAN, I can see and wake the iMac via the Finder Shared section. It is called Rob's iMac (4) in the Shared Section of the Finder on the MBP. It shows the file resources and I can get at everything.
When I am outside the LAN, I also see Rob's iMac (4) in the Shared section of the Finder on the MBP, but clicking results in Connection Failed timeout. I've tried removing the router (another Airport Extreme) and direct connecting to cable modem with no changes in results.
Any suggestions on how I can access resources when outside my LAN?
