I'm concerned that the OB screen protector will be as sensitive as the film type that I've installed. if a fraction of an atom will leave a bubble in the film type, how's it going to be installing the OB screen protector.

The OtterBox Screen protector is built into the case. You don't apply it like you apply a ZAGG InvisibleShield screen protector. It is part of the case. On my iPhone, I have a screen protector with an OtterBox Defender Case on it and the touch screen is very responsive and works fine.
Maybe this will be of some help. There are links to YouTube videos here that show how to place the iPad into the OtterBox Defender case.

I have an OtterBox Defender on my iPad 3 and on my iPhone 5S. I have no problems at all placing the devices into the cases, or removing the devices from the cases. I remove the iPad and iPhone from their cases every two weeks or so, so that I can clean the cases inside and out and clean the iPad and iPhone as well.
No. Otterbox is not an Apple product. Why not just follow the instructions that come with it or look on their website for help.
What are you having problems with? It's really quite simple and they do have a video on the website that shows you how to put the cover on your iPad.
If you buy it at best buy the geek squad may help you - likely for a fee.
Demo,
Your overalll comment was very helpful. Thank you. I saw that video and a couple on YouTube. Tell me that it's close to that easy and I'll open the box and bang it out tomorrow!
