Trying to determine year of mfg for A1224

I'm trying to fix a cloudy grey screen issue on mh iMac 20" A1224. Most of the YouTube discussions seem to be based on the year of mfg - which I do not know. The bottom of the stand indicates the model A1224, but I gather that that model was made over a span of time. How do I find out what year it is? Anyone got an opinion on my chances of removing the cloudy grey (top of display) film? Nothing to loose cuz it's too hard to see to remain practical unless fixed.

The model A* is not distinctive enough. The EMC# will tell us exactly what year or range of year.

Another approach is serial number, but we do not want to know the actual serial number. Only the 3rd, 4th and 5th character of the serial number is important. The rest should not be posted on the forum.
