Is it still worth it to buy an iPad2?

I want to buy it for school, even though I know they are pretty old. I don't want a mini or the air. I know the iPad 3's and 4's are still out there, but the iPad 2 is more currently in my price range. I also know that apple will be discontinuing them soon because they are a little out dated, and possibly bring back the iPad 4. I am just worried that iPad 2 will go obsolete within the next year or two and they will stop updating it, and I don't want to be stuck with it.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me please?

You should probably get an iPad newer than the iPad 2. Consider getting a refurbished iPad for less $$.
