It should be pretty much the same approach as any other VMWare ESXi setup as it is the same software. You can add additional Ethernet interfaces if needed by using USB adapters.

The current Mac minis don't have built-in optical drives, if you need one you can use a USB drive or otherwise use USB memory sticks told hold the contents of ISO images to boot from during the setup.

The VMWare client software is Windows only (curse them) there is a limited web client, otherwise you will need to run Windows perhaps in a VM on another Mac.

Note: Only the Mac Pro or a XServe if you still have one is officially certified for ESXi but it does work on Mac minis. This is because only those models have ECC (Error Correcting) memory.

Let us know how you get on here after you do it, I am sure people will be interested.

Thank you very much Den and John,

I will start my project with 3 and simply stack them, however on this image the rack has a XServer on the top probably being the ESXI and the Cluster itself a Vcenter of some form.

that could work with just another Mac Mini on top as ESXI and clustering the other 2 for Vcenter.

my only doubt is, what cluster software are they using? Xgrid or something??. or just serialize these Eth ports cascatiing them into each other?

thanks,

Kerb
