MY IMAC IS NOT POWERING UP. IT WAS UNPLUGGED FROM POWER WHILE IN SLEEP MODE AND WILL NOW NOT POWER UP

So, I have an i-mac (vintage 2010) that utilises the small wireless keyboard and a usb mouse.

The only sign of life is the green light flashing on the keyboard.

Having unplugged it during sleep mode it will not now power up. Coincidence maybe. I can confirm that power is coming through the power cable.

Nothing played with - Original OS system...... etc.

Any advice welcome.

Thanks and Regards,

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

Thanks Barry,

I looked up SMC and followed the instructions, based on the machine being 'dead', as follows:

Resetting the SMC for Mac Pro, Intel-based iMac, Intel-based Mac mini, or Intel-based Xserve

  1. Shut down the computer.
  2. Unplug the computer's power cord.
  3. Wait fifteen seconds.
  4. Attach the computer's power cord.
  5. Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.

Still no signs of life though.
