Ipod static/crackling noise.

Hi all,

My ipod has recently started making a static/crackling noise when ever a sound is played on my ipod. This is both through my headphone socket and the inbuilt speaker. I have tried to reset, restore and update my ipod but nothing seems to solve it, has anyone else experienced this and if so is there a solution?

Cheers

Dan

- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.

Fix for iphone Earphone Bug

Try the following to rule out a software problem

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Reset all settings

Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

- Restore from backup

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack or other hardware problem

Hi Dan,

Not sure this helps.

My recent Christmas gift iPod had to go Factory Reset, due to battery not holding Charge. When I thought the process was over and still connected to my MacBook Pro it gave out a real high pitched grating screech, with a delay and another. When I disconnected from laptop and starting iTunes the music was really scratchy for more than two different tracks. Since I had to go to work I switched off, hoping when I returned 10 hrs later it would still have a charge; the main problem. This morning for the first time I have not had to recharge, and have played my music with no Screeching static.

Good Luck
