Feb 17, 2014 5:21 AM in response to captmph7by Skydiver119,Go into the settings and poke around in the notifications. There's a ton of stuff defaulted to on that you may not need. Also look into background app refresh and background app update.

Feb 17, 2014 5:22 AM in response to captmph7by stedman1,★HelpfulIn addition to the advice above, also lower the screen brightness. As a side note, 5% in 1/2 hour would equal ~10 hours usage.

Feb 17, 2014 5:35 AM in response to captmph7by face247,https://www.apple.com/batteries/ipad.html is also a great source for battery life tips. Making sure, like Skydiver said, turn off back ground app refresh, and auto update. Disable location servies on things you don't actually need location sevices to be on with. Turn off wifi, bluetooth, cellular data when they are not being used/needed. Adjust brightness to a lower level when possible. Multitask close (double tap the home button) applications you are no longer needing to use to make sure it doesn't keep running in the backgroud.
Those are most of the major tips I give to people when they ask.

Feb 17, 2014 5:55 AM in response to captmph7by Texas Mac Man,★HelpfulTry this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. In rare instances when using the Camera Connection Kit, you may notice that iPad does not charge after using the Camera Connection Kit. Disconnecting and reconnecting the iPad from the charger will resolve this issue.

Feb 19, 2014 5:43 AM in response to captmph7by Philip Isherwood,Do you also own an iPad? I have struggled with all solutions to fast depleting battery on iphone 4s (and ipad) since installing ios7. I sync via icloud to my ipad and noticed the b stopped if I powered off the ipad for a day! ios7 must have set up some cycle that drained both devices. Now I have set the ipad to manual (not push) on icloud and diary sync and battery life is back to normal for a whole week it can last 48 hours with light use- no longer have to keep shutting down all apps and turning off bluetooth and wifi to get through a day! Any one else found the same solution?
