What format is the video and what format is the audio?
Russ
I used Quicktime to import them (audio and video were recorded at the same time).
You need to open one of the clips in the QT player and give the inspector information. What were the project properties in FCP? Did you burn to DVD from inside FCP?
Open the original clip in Quick Time Player. Bring up the Inspector by hitting Command-i. Take a screenshot of the Inspector report and please post it.

And the project properties? I don't see why it would be out if sync. It drifts out if sync right? Hiw quickly?
Might what to check if the media and the project are both using drop frame or non-drop frame timecode.
It seems as if Final Cut Pro X did not recognize the format of the video. I set it to SD (which it should have been to begin with), burned it to DVD and now it plays fine. Thanks for your help.
