My iphone 5s suddenly stopped working. I have tried plugging it in to the charger and also flipping the silent switch and holding the home and sleep button and nothing has worked. Does anyone have any way to fix this?

Try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose data by resetting.

Had exactly the same problem. Had my iPhone 5 on charge all night as normal. Picked it up, put it in my bag, when I took it out 30 mins later, dead as a dodo.
Tried everything I could think of, but holding down the Home button and the power button for several seconds (at least 8 secs, I reckon) finally worked.
