Q: airport express

Hi all,

I have bought an airport express for my student house as there are eight of us all using the internet and i wanted to extend it upstairs for two of us as it is pitifully slow. The router is on the middle floor but is a really old and decrepid thing, i connected my airport express with a LAN cable as the manual says and plugges it in etc.. the green light went solid but the airport wifi did not appear on any of my devices (iPhone, and iMac) and made the internet not work at all, so i had to unplug and retreat upstairs, defeated..

Has anyone got any suggestions??

I hate having such rubbish internet and really hoped this would not be another £80 dissapointment from apple..

Cheers!

If the "really old and decrepid thing" router is not an Apple product the only way to extend its wireless range with the AirPort Express would be to interconnect the two with an Ethernet cable, and then, reconfigure them both for a roaming network. As you can imagine you will need a fairly lengthy cable to run it between floors.
