How do I keep pictures from zooming in on iMovie

I am creating a little movie with pics and music. I can't seem to figure out how to keep the pics from zooming in or panning. I want to keep them still. I've tried command+j and fit to screen but that doesn't seem to help any. And everytime I hit Command+J it goes to the first picture. How do I keep them still?

You need to turn off the Ken Burns effect which is applied randomly automatically.

Select all your pics in the timeline (so they have yellow borders)

Click on adjust (top right of iMovie window)

Click on the cropping icon above the viewer

Select Style: Fit

...and you are done.
