How to convert .avi files to .w4v files?
Does anyone know of an easy way to convert .avi files to .w4v files please?

Thanks for taking the trouble to response Tony T1.
Apple won't let me download 5square (as you suggested) or Handbrake, as it says it is from an unidentified developer. How's that then???

Check your settings in ->System Preferences->Secutity.
I have:
selected, and I was able to d/l MPEG Streamclip

Michelle ~ That's Apple's app security system called Gatekeeper — you can read about it here:
Gatekeeper was introduced in Mac OS X (10.7.5) but your products list indicates you're using Mac OS X (10.6.4). So... Click on the menu at top left of your screen and choose About This Mac. Then under OS X, note the version in the form 10.n.n and then see this ASC tutorial:
