    Do you get any errors?

     

    What version of Windows?

    Have you tried reinstalling iTunes?

    Windows 8. It installed updates ealier in day. Went to Itunes and it woud not open Message was from User Account Control  asking if this app could make chages to my computer. I answered yes and still cannot open. I did not uninstall Itunes but I did update to latest version and still it won't open.

    getting confused now.  Tried  to open again and message said itunes was set to run an a compatibility mode for an earlier version of windows and I should change the compatibility mode. Don't know how to change compatibility mode.Then it opens but the window is too large on my screen. Does this make sense?

    You should not need to run iTunes in compatability mode. I suggest you tear out the whole iTunes install and reinstall in the manner given in the second box of Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

    That's consistent with an odd display setting being chosen in the compatibility tab ... if you're still getting that after the reinstall, try the following document, only be sure that none of the boxes in the compatibility tab are checked (not just the compatibility mode box itself):
