Q: Burned out Macbook Air Adapter

My macbook air adapter burned out after I used it to charge my macbook pro (which I've done before) but is there any way I can fix it?

Also I read on the discussion boards that we should be able to use either adapter for either computer but this incident may indicate that the pro could burn out the air's adapter - Apple needs to give some notice to the consumer if so.

that you CAN doesnt mean you SHOULD for a long period

what you did is blow one of the 2 capacitors inside the charger block board.

capacitors blow, its only a charger. It can be fixed, but its $80 of a pain to fix a $60 new charger honestly.

You read correctly that you can yes.

It is better to use the adapter of proper wattage to recharge the battery.

Apple says that a power adapter of higher wattage can be used.

Quoting from below linked article from Apple:

    Power Adapter/ cord wattage

“Power adapters for Intel-based Apple notebooks are available in 45W, 60W, and 85W varieties. Although you should always use the proper wattage adapter for your Apple notebook, you can use an adapter of a higher wattage without issue.”
