Feb 18, 2014 6:12 AM in response to Thomsodby AmishCake,Try a reset: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)

Feb 18, 2014 6:14 AM in response to Thomsodby Demo,Try this. Reset the iPad. You might have to erase the device or restore the iOS if this allows the iPad to start up again.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Feb 18, 2014 6:30 AM in response to Demoby Thomsod,Hi and thank you and to all for your responses - thank you! I reset and I have an apple symbol. Unfortunately, none of the data erased. I'll try again, I guess. I want the new owner (family with an adult child with developmental disabilities) to be able to use the Ipad with their own apple ID in order to download learning apps for their daughter. Hmmm.
