my Neflix quit working on my apple tv. It does work on my laptop. I get the netflix and choose a show but when I try to play it I get an error. I have tried unplugging and that did not work. Do i need some kind of update?

My NetFlix quit working on my Apple TV. I can get into Netflix and choose what I want to watch, but when I try to play it, I get an error. I have tried unplugging to see if it would reset and it did not work. My Netflix does work on my laptop. Any suggestions?

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.


  1. Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
  2. Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
  3. Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
  4. Reset the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings)
  5. Restore the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Restore)
