iPad Won't Charge

Hi There,

I accidentally let my iPad 3 die yesterday and now it won't charge.

It's been in the charger for over an hour but is unresponsive. If I click the home buttom, the empty battery symbol shows up in the middle of the screen, but it isn't charging for some reason. The iPad is recognising the lead is in as if I take it out the symbol comes up at the bottom telling me to input the charging lead.

I've tried resetting the iPad by holding the home and lock buttons but it does absolutely nothing.

Any advice? I've tried changing leads, but it does charge my phone up.

1. Reset iPad

2. Try another wall socket

3. Try another cable (make sure it's an original Apple cable)

4. Try another charger (make sure it's an original Apple charger)

5. Clean Lightning port with compress air or new paint brush

As I said I've tried resetting the iPad and I've used different cables - they work on my fine. I've tried changing the wall socket and the charger itself.

It's an iPad 3 so there's no lightning port but I'll try cleaning the port. As I said, it's recognising that there's a lead in the iPad but it won't charge.

This is a little tricky because if your iPad is completely dead you won't be able to Reset it - you need power in order for this to work as it has to be turned on to do a Reset.

I had this issue on my iPhone 5 a short while back, I'd just done something, either a backup or an update of some kind but the power was already on, however I hadn't noticed that it had stopped charging. So I disconnected it and reconnected charger - no joy. Thankfully I had some juice in my iPhone and did a reset by holding down both home & sleep/wake buttons and thankfully it started charging. Before you ask yes this was with the official cable and charger that came with my iPhone, but how you do this without power to your device I've no idea.

Only thing I can suggest is try linking iPad to your computer and see if it's recognised there, may sound odd I know but stranger things can happen.
