How do I get iCal to show public holidays without having to manually enter them day by day?

I don't see any way to show public holidays (easter, christmas etc) on the calendar without buying a calendar as a data source and then entering them individually into iCal.

Does anyone know of a more 21st century way of doing this?

http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/calendars/ though some of the calendars there are defunct. However these two do work:

http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/calendars/usholidaycalendar.html

There are also calendars for other countries but I haven't checked them.
