Q: Problems with sending emails

I get a message from both Iphone and Ipad (Iphone was working up until today) when I send an email "Cannot send Mail.  The recipient {email address of person} was rejected by the server because it does not allow relaying" I can receive emails.  This has happened before on the Iphone but somehow corrected)

I use Optus for mail

Many thanks

iPhone 4S, iOS 7.0.4

Actually have just read another thread about sending emails and the response below has actually solved this so thanks to the person who posted this

Go to Settings >Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>account name , tap on SMTP (under the 'Outgoing Mail Server' heading) and then tap on your Primary Server and try entering your username and password and see if you can then send emails.

Even if it says that the information is optional - enter it anyway.

same with me ........same problem and same solution.  but it does seem intermittent and i read elsewhere that may be connected with having your mail open in more than one computer. anyway, for now all is well ( but why the **** do they sayy it is optional when it clearly isnt ?!)
