I had trouble getting email. I erased it and tried to upload it again. I'm getting the message Cannot Get Mail the user name or password for "pop3.live.com is incorrect. I have never had a user name like that. please help

That is the server name, not your email address. When you set up the account you created a hotmail or Windows Live account. If that is not what you meant to do delete the account and start over.
I do have a hotmail account. It stopped working. I am trying to add it back under add an account and this is when I get this "pop3.live.com is incorrect business. Thank you so much for helping me.
pop3.live.com is correct. It is the email address or password that you are entering that is wrong.
I am entering my @msn.com and password correctly. I doubled checked it using the computer to log in. I double checked it logging into account through sarfari too.

You may think they are correct, but Microsoft's server disagrees. Look at the settings in whatever mail client you use on your computer (Outlook? Outlook Express? Something Else?) and make them match the iPhone.
Check the Microsoft site for details on how to set up an iPhone.
WOW..not sure what I did but it worked. thank you so much from an old gal in nebraska trying to get into the iphone world. The closest apple store I think is Omaha or Kansas City.. so this was grand!!! You are the best.
