I have a MacBook Pro (Late 2011) running OS Mavericks and Windows 8 Pro on Bootcamp.
I want to install Windows 8.1 on my Win 8 partition, but I have no idea how to do it. Most preferably, I wouldn't want to lose all of my files.
Could someone help me with step-by-step instructions?

8.1 is not supported on a Mac in Boot Camp, at least not yet.
You'll be fine with 8.1 it is supported by Apple, first install the new boot camp drivers from http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1720
Launch windows update and install any requires updates then restart. Go into the (windows) App Store and you'll see the option to download 8.1. It will keep all your apps, files, etc.
Just an FYI, Windows 8.1 is now supported. See the link provided below by turbostar. The support software for Windows 8.1 just appeared recently.
