Will windows 7 work with boot camp on an IMac that is already running windows XP?

I want to replace windows XP with windows 7

iMac (20-inch Early 2009), Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Only if you uninstall XP and then install Windows 7 in the Boot Camp partition

It will only support the 32 bit version of Windows. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5634
