NOTHING Will Play..."Untitled" Box Appears, Very Odd Behavior- HELP

My Apple TV has been functioning perfectly for over a year. Since yesterday, a very odd thing has been happening...

Every time I go to play a video/movie/channel/etc., the screen goes to black like its about to load the video but then just returns to the previous screen. In the lower left hand corner, a box with music notes appears that says 'Untitled' as if I was playing something. I also noticed that if I leave my Apple TV idle for a minute, a full screen image of the 'Untitled' music track takes over. It says that it's an internet radio station. I have a screen shot but don't know how to post it here.

This has to be a bug...I never use internet radio. I've restarted my Apple TV several times, changed wireless networks, and nothing helps.

This is a really weird behavior...please help!!

Answered my own question. I wanted to post for anybody else having the same issue.

The problem was coming from my MacBook. It was connected via AirPlay and the "untitled internet radio" track was whatever I was playing through the VLC player. It was disrupting my Apple TV EVEN THOUGH my MacBook was totally disconnected from AirPlay and Apple TV.

I don't quite understand why it happens, but this was the problem. Quitting iTunes, VLC, or restarting my MacBook instantly fixed the issue.

Hi,

I exactly had the same problem and even spoke with Apple care support. Apple support is not aware of this issue and saying that its an unique issue and still researching.

Glad my wife found this in the discussion forum and we tried and it worked as described.

Great! Appreciate for sharing this. it was really annoying.

Did you get that issue again? or that was only once?

Thanks

I had exactly the same problem, only I couldn't seem to find the AirPlay device locking up my Apple TV. I rebooted all my macs, and turned off my iPods. I restarted my AppleTV multiple times. Still, every time I try to play any media, it stops and tells me it is playing a Internet Radio track over AirPlay.

I eventually had to turn off AirPlay on my AppleTV. I'll try again after changing the AirPlay security settings, but this is really frustrating.

I really have no use for Apple Internet Radio ... I wish I could just ban it from all my devices. This problem I'm having with AirPlay and my AppleTV only reinforces my feeling that Internet Radio is a misfeature that Apple is shoving on me.

Just for Apple's sake. This is an issue for me, too. I got a new Apple TV, and it played great for about a week. Then, I started getting the 'untitled' track icon whenever I put my AirPlay from my MacBook Air. I have rebooted everything multiple times, and I still get no audio. When I check my audio settings, when Apple TV is highlighted with AirPlay as the Type, it says "The selected device has no output controls." Anyone?

GGood.

FOr for anybody else having this problem, seeing the "Untitled" box in the corner while unsuccessfully trying to play things on Apple TV means that something else is utilizing Apple TV. This is most common when going from AirPlay back to Apple TV...I use VLC Player for my media on my MacBook Pro and that's what caused this problem for me. Even though AirPlay was off, my Apple TV wouldn't play anything until I closed VLC on my MacBook Pro.
