Q: Macbook Pro can't connect to internet using Time Capsule after sleep

I have two Macbook Pro - one late 2008 and one 2011 both running the latest version of Mavericks.  I recently bought a Airport Time Capsule.  The Time Capsule is physically located in the basement of a two story house and connected to a DSL modem.  Both MBPs will connect to the Time Capsule from the second floor.  The late 2011 MBP will connect to the 5ghz network after sleep and access the internet with no issues.

The late 2008 MBP has a problem connecting to the internet after sleep.  At times it will not see the Time Capsule at all, most times it will connect to the wifi network at 2ghz but will not connect to the internet (airport utility shows internet with yellow light).  Sometimes the problem will clear itself if I open Airport Utility and let it sit open because it seems to reset itself.  Initially at these times the Time Capsule appears in the Airport Utility and the internet shows yellow but after several minutes the Airport Utility will refresh and the internet connects.  At other times I leave the Airport Utility open and the Time Capsule appears but later the Airport Utility resets and the Time Capsule then shows a yield sign and exclamation point.

Had this problem tonight and after I moved to the first floor closer to the airport the 2008 MBP connected.  The 2011 MBP never has this problem and my iPhone, iPad 2, and Apple TV connect to the Time Capsule from the same room with no problem.

Any suggestions?
