I have my work calander set up in ical as repeating events. Ocassionally I have a change in my schedule where I work a different time or have a day off. I change the event, and save only for this event. My problem is next time I go into my calander the event is exactly like the rest of the series as if I have never changed it at all. Any suggestions?

It sounds like your calendar events are reverting to the state they were in before you made your changes. I recommend the troubleshooting for your device from the following article:
