My Calendar app has gone blank

My Calendar app has gone blank, have lost all appointments. I tried going into Time Machine but after I went back into the "real world" it says Calendar can't be modified or deleted because it is required by Mac OSX. I have OS10.8.5. Can someone please help.

Quit the application.

In Finder hold down the option/alt key while selecting the Go menu item. Select Library. Then go to Calendars. Enter Time Machine and restore that folder.
