My first advice would be don't. AirPlay is extremely buggy and un-reliable. And mirroring is even worse.
If you are new to forums it is generally expected that you will run a search for you answer before posting to avoid multiple redundant posts. And this has been posted 1000's of times before. You can easily Google for instructions on setting up AirPlay.
I would disagree to the extent that it is dependent upon the network. If the network is reliable then airplay won't be an issue.
For mirroring you would need to have a Mac from 2011 or later running OSX 10.8 (or later). There are 3rd party options available for older hardware, try before you buy.

I used to think the same thing, but even with an all wired network I run into contant problems with mirroring and AirPlay. Audio drops out, or randomly starts to become garbled. Video just freezes. I can run loaded ping tests while it is happening and get 1.0 - 3.0 mil second response times the enitre time with no packet loss and AirPlay will still drop out or hang, lag.
Can't say that i've ever experienced any of that on my system and those type of reports are typically rare.
