Q: updated iTunes on intel iMac and now it won't open at all

I'm using a 2007 intel imac 20" (2ghz intel core 2 duo) and itunes just updated automatically (to 11.1.4). Now it will not open, I just get an error message "iTunes quit unexpectedly" before it even opens. There seems to be no way to uninstall itunes on OS X 10.9.1. I have restarted to no avail. Any ideas? (no, time machine is not setup)

please, any help at all? I'm about to throw this imac out a window and never by another apple product again.
