Q: I have a MacBook Air. It was switched to Win7 but now I want it back to MAC OS. When booting with the USB reinstall it won't let me format drive to GUID_partition_scheme , only FAT. What will it take to go back to MAC partition & restore the system?

From what little you say, it sounds like the computer's hard drive was partitioned as Master Boot Record and then formatted FAT or NTSF. You'll need to run Disk Utility and delete the partition and then click on the Option's button and select GUID. Then you'll be able to format the drive as HFS+ to install OS X.
