My wireless Track pad was going nuts on me, highlighting , deleting asking question
I hooked up my mouse and regular keyboard and they are fine.
I replaced the batteries also,
Do they have issues when they are failing or would it be some type of interference between the Pad and iMac?

Try doing a basic restart, while at it reset the SMC and PRAM 2-3 times. If that does not help then please follow Apple's instructions for troubleshooting bluetooth devices in https://www.apple.com/support/bluetooth/.

I did the SMC reset and that seemed to reduce some of the jumping around but the track pad is still super sensitive
I tried the PRAM reset and the computer stayed in the white screen for about 4-5 minutes and I decided to shut it down and restart normally.
Does the PRAM take a very long time to restart?
