Q: Built in camera not working

I have an iMac 27" from late 2009. My built in camera is not working regardless of user or application. I am running OS X 10.9.1 (recent update). The camera was not working before so I suspect it is not the update. I was actually following another suggestion that the update would resolve it. The update did resolve several other issues I was having but this one did not get fixed.

There may be a hardware cause behind this apparent failure.

You could try to troubleshoot, as suggested in this article.
This may include an SMC reset.

I had already done those before posting but thank you. I did re-read it to make sure that I covered that same article. I think I knonw the answer but want someone smarter than I to confirm it.
