Or, better yet. Start up the App Store application, tap on the search bar in the upper right corner and type iBooks, download the app, start it up, tap on Store in the left corner, in the iBookStore's search bar type iPad User Guide, download that and then you will have both acquired your first iBook plus you'll be able to learn the secrets of your iPad at leisure without requiring Internet connection.

Hint: in the iBookStore's Featured section you'll find a Free Books category with LOTS of free stuff to get. Same to be said of the App Store's Free section.

Open iBooks store, scroll to the bottom of the page to free books, scroll down to computers and internet.
