Whatever happened to Quicktime VR

I produced a QTVR movie about five years ago and it worked fine on any browser at the time as long as the computer had QuickTime installed. Now the VR effect is jumpy in Firefox and Chrome on the Mac and my standard Explorer and Firefox on my PC don't have Quicktime. Has Apple stoppe supporting it? Is there equivalent technology?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.4), Also G5 with OS 10.5.8

A faster computer and higher download speeds are the only way to improve playback of anything off the Web.

QTVR was cool when released 20 years ago. It still has a function in Web page design when someone wants to show a large area in a small space.

But as bandwidth speeds have increased and the costs of Web hosting have dropped many QTVR's are being replaced with short videos.

Apple hasn't done anything with QTVR development in over 12 years. Maybe even longer.

QuickTime version 10.3 found in Mavericks can't even play QTVR files.
