Hotspot access on iPad air
I am thinking about getting an iPad air but I don't want the extra expense of the cellular version - can I access the internet when I'm out and about by using the hotspot on my iphone5s?

If you have the personal hotspot option on your phone then yes, you can use that to give internet access to your iPad - your iPad will see the phone as a wifi network.
