Itunes update server cannot be contacted

I cannot update my ipad to 7.0.4, will not download. Tried to connect to my computer but it doesnt recognize the ipad. Tried to search updates through my computer itunes and it says update server cannot be contacted, check your internet connection. BUT I am online, itunes working fine, computer is online?
