Q: Unable to connect ipad to airport extreme.

After I bought a new imac and connected it to my airport extreme, my ipad will no longer connect. I see my network in the list, chose it, type the password,  and then it just hangs. I updated  my ipad to the latest version, I deleted my old network and created a new one, using the airport tool. It works fine with my imac but the problem is as before on my ipad. I installed the airport utility app on my ipad, and I can see the name of my new network there, and also that my airport extreme is not connected to the internet. But in the airport utility on my imac  the airport extreme is connected to the internet. I also checked that I can connect my ipad to other networks outside my home and it works fine. Will be really grateful if anyone can help.

    Hey there beanto,

It sounds like you are unable to connect to your Airport Extreme even after recreating the network with the Airport Utility, but your iMac has no problem connecting at all. I recommend the troublehsooting from the article named:

iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections

    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1398

    Start with these steps:

    1. Restart your iOS device.
    2. Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and on. If your Wi-Fi setting is dimmed, follow these steps.
    3. Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected.
    4. Tap TS1398_i.png and Forget this Network.
    5. Update your device to the latest version of software.
    6. Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware2. For AirPort Base Stations, install updates using the AirPort Utility.

If needed, there are additional steps to try toward the bottom named:

Unable to connect to a Wi-Fi network

    1. Verify that you're attempting to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
    2. Make sure you're entering your Wi-Fi password correctly. Passwords may be case sensitive and may contain numbers or special characters.
    3. Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings including:
      • previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords
      • recently used Bluetooth accessories
      • VPN and APN settings

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

    All the very best,
