Q: Unlocked but AT&T still listed as carrier in settings

I've done all the steps for unlocking the iPhone 4, and when I'm done I get a message via iTunes that "the device has been successfully unlocked".

Yet when I go to the phones settings the carrier is still listed as AT&T. Am I missing something?

iPhone 4, iOS 7.0.3

Have you inserted a SIM card from another carrier?

That isn't likely to change until doing so - using the iPhone with another carrier especially if the ATT SIM card remains in the iPhone.

I have not tried that as I do not have a sim available from another carrier.

I'm selling my iPhone and advertised it as unlocked. I just want it to be right before I mail it.
