My iPad 3 was running fine until I tried to install iOS 7.0.6 on my iPad 3 over a WiFi and it would not install. I was prompted to connect to iTunes and restore. Why?

A bad load of the update? Sometimes you can get network errors especially if the wifi connection or any link in the chain to Apple is poor.

The restore went well. All apps back in folders as configured prior to update. I am happy.
Are you running 7.0.6 now or 7.0.4?

I have the same issue on my iPhone. Can't plug into iTunes since I am traveling my computer. Can I use any computer with iTunes installed? The phone is useless right now. Thanks for any suggestions.
I have the same issue an Korniji. I'm travelling. I will not have access to iTunes before Monday. No phone until Monday !
IMO If many people have the isue, Apple should remove the update. And it cannot be network issue since there is a verification of download.

The same issue - iphone 5 asked to connect to iTunes after installing 7.0.6 over wi-fi and the only option was to restore iPhone.

Exactly the same problem here. When I am trying to connect it ti iTunes ion Win 8.1 it is not detected at all. Is my iPad bricked?
I restored iPhone OS using iTunes and then restored data from iTunes backup, but lost data for some period since latest backup.
Same here: My screen froze, and shows me that I need to plug into itunes.
BUT: I am just using the tablet from apple, there is no other apple computer in our home.
What should I do now?
even if you manage to connect to Itunes it's still not working. Freezes up half way through the restoration. Unknown error.
Apple fault! As said previously verification has occured and files removed it's just in the firmware restoration.

My 4th generation iPad crashes at random times after I've updated to iOS 7.0.6 I miss iOS 6
I had the same issue with an iPhone 4. Mine wont even restore to factory settings. It fails on the restore on multiple machines with error 12 during the firmware write. Apple support says it is dead and wants me to pay to have it fixed. It was working perfectly before the software update.
