Audiobook gifting troubles

I sent my husband an audiobook as a gift from the iTunes store. He clicked "redeem here" on the email he received, but the download never began. Now when he goes back to click "redeem here" again, it says the code has already been redeemed. The audiobook is nowhere to be found on his device. What should we do? I do not want to pay for it twice...
