Following power outage and incorrect shutdown, iMac 2010 running Mountain Lion will load up to login screen but no further.
After entering password, the screen goes white and loops back to the login screen to enter password again.
It is the correct password and I assume that it is accepted as no wobble. (Have checked by entering incorrect password and get wobble)
- Have tried disconnecting peripheries ( hard drives etc) and restarting several times - still the same.
- Have tried running Safe Mode (holding SHIFT on startup), have tried Disk Repair (command R) and resetting NVRAM (command, alt, P, R) but all to no avail.
Ironically the last Time Machine backup failed so no backup to work with.
Am loathe to reinstall OS as I would lose all the music and it still might not work!
Cannot find any further advice apart from seeing a Genius, which I tried, but they only deal with iPods and iPads at my local Apple store!
Any ideas most welcome!
