Q: facetime app is no longer working on mac book pro

My face time app is not working anymore on my mac and i'm not sure why? if anyone can please help as I facetime my mom everyday in Europe and its a hassel using my ios.

Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Choose the method for:
"Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
