Q: how do i update my iPhone to an older version of iOS 7

I would like to update my iphone from its most recent update 7.0.6 to its older version 7.0.4. Every time i go to install the 7.0.4 version it say the build is not eligible or something.

You cannot go back to a previous version of iOS. Downgrading is not supported.

You cannot update except to the latest iOS version...Apple removes the files for the older iOS versions when a new release takes place.

I don't suppose there's a way to update to a later version (7.1.X) rather than all the way to 8.X.X?

I have a 4S, and have already had enough bad experiences with updating, and reading all the issues the 4S has with IOS 8, I'd rather not.

I'm 99% sure my next phone will be Android.

You can only update to the latest supported version for your device, which is 8.1.2 at this time.

There's no reason not to stick with iOS 7 if that's your preference - I have a 4S on 7.1.2 and have no intention of going to iOS 8 unless I have to restore my phone.

Of course, if you're having issues, updating is one of the first troubleshooting recommendations.

How many times do you need to hear no? Any what issues are you hearing and from where? Many millions are having no issues with iOS8.1.1  Don't let forums like this have an impact on your decision. Stay with the iOS you already have if you don't want 8 for some reason.

Go for it. You'll be right at home there.
