why won't my ipod 6.1.6 connect to itunes 11.1.4.62?

I updated my Itunes and soon after discovered that it will no longer connect to my Ipod. I looked all over the internet and found no good solution. After about 2 weeks of dissapointment in apple. They released an update on my Ipod today that said something like SSL connectivity fix. So Immediately I updated it than plugged into my computer... Still nothing. That's when I got fed up and came here. I just want to listen to my music when I work out. Kinda hard to run with a laptop.

See

iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows

- I would start with

Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP

or

Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

- New cable and different USB port

- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause
