iOS 7.0.6 wifi problems

I have had terrible problems with this update. I updated my iPhone 4s and iPad, and since the update neither of them will connect to wifi. They would connect, then drop, then reconnect, then drop, etc. I chatted with an Apple Support employee and he suggested to reset network settings. Once I did that, neither device would connect at all. Then he suggested to reset all settings. That didn't work either. Finally, he suggested a full restore on both devices. I did that - and neither of them will connect. He ended the chat before I was able to say that the restore didn't work.

I still can't connect to wifi on either device and I know it's in relation to this update because both worked perfectly fine before the 7.0.6 update. My iMac is connected to the same wifi and has had no problems, so I know it's not an internet issue. Both now say, "Failed to join network."

Has anyone else had problems?

First thing I would like to know is have you restarted the wi/fi router after you completed your update?

Also, have you tried connecting your devices to alternate wi/fi routers? Other thing I would be curious about is that when you restored your device from default settings, was this done by going to Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings OR did you use itunes to download a fresh OS from the Apple server?

Once the OS was restored to your device did you then restore the backup from the old OS or did you try connecting your wi/fi without restoring from the backup?

I'm leaning hard on the idea that either you have a wi/fi router possilby either wearing out OR in need of an update it self OR that you have significent corruption from the old OS that once restoring the device back with the backup from the OLD device that this resulted in bringing the issue back to your device.

My best advice to you is:

1. Restore the device back to default settings using iTunes, restoring the device back as a NEW device and not restoring from backup.

2. If this does not resolve the issue, I would then like to see you simply unplug the power source to your wi/fi and restart the wi/fi.

3. If this does not resolve the issue I would like for you to drop by the nearest shop that has an available wi/fi connection to see if your device will connect to an alternate wi/fi connection.

Good luck Friend.

Thanks for the reply.

The first reset I did was: Settings>General>Reset Network Settings

The next reset I did was: Settings>General>Reset All Settings

Both of these were advised by Apple Support.

Once neither of those worked, he advised me to do a full system restore which I did on both devices. After that, I DID restore from my backup.

The problem I am having now is that my iPad is plugged in to my computer to charge and it keeps disconnecting/reconnecting the USB...? It seems to be doing the same thing as the wifi where it will connect, then drop, then connect, and drop.

I really doubt it is my wifi modem as it is less than a year old, and now with this power issue, I'm wondering if there's a signigicant corruption. It's just odd because it's BOTH my iPad and iPhone.

I will try doing a restore without restoring from a backup and see if that helps.

I wish I wouldn't have updated to the new iOS though. Both devices worked perfectly fine before I updated them.

Thanks for the tips! I will try them.

I had the same problem with my 5S after installing 7.0.6. It first started by just dropping the wifi connection and then not detecting the network at all. I restarted the phone and when that did not help I did a reset (home & power button). When that did not help I reset the network settings. After that the wifi showed up again, showed connected but the wifi logo did not show next to my carrier. Then tried turning off cell data. After doing that it was showing "No service" but the wifi was connected. Then tried turning airplane mode on and off. No change. After restarting the phone again my carrier was back and my wifi was connected and working properly.

Don't know what went wrong and what fixed it. I don't like doing updates on the spur of the moment and especially NOT OTA, but decided to do it as it was such an important update. This experience just showed me again that it is good to be cautious and to rather use iTunes. Lesson learned....

I'm having the same problems too. The weird thing is that it also seems to be affecting my MacBook, which obviously makes no sense, but yet here we are. Internet on all three of my devices (2008 Black MacBook, iPhone 5, and 3rd gen iPad) was working swimmingly until I did the iOS 7.0.6 update Sunday afternoon on my iPad and iPhone. Afterwards, my internet on all three devices slowed down to a crawl on my home network, and all three are unresponsive on my school's network. They appear to connect to the network, but fail to load any web content. I've tried all the basic tricks: Reset network settings, restart device, etc., but so far nothing has worked. I'm hesitant to restore my devices to factory settings at this point, because that's a hassle and it doesn't look like it's really helped anyone out so far. Haven't tried the freezer thing yet, but that's kind of a crazy solution to this problem.

Am I the only one having Mac Issues as well as iOS? It's worth noting that I plugged my phone into my Mac to dump some pictures into iPhoto following the update.

This is obviously related to the 7.0.6 update, since i've started having this problem since. The wifi has been connected but what happens is that it switches on and off. So the problem is only really seen when watching videos, when connected to wifi it can not buffer out. Also i've read other people's proplems with this and checking the dates it is all on the 22nd right after the update. THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM WITH YOUR WIFI. Some technicions in apple have requested rebooting your router etc. This ill not help since it is due to the wifi chip in your phone. Finnaly the update 7.0.6 had a secuirty patch due to some iphones being hacked. Do not worry if you have the update. I am sure that due to the security patch it may have also updated the wifi chip making it incompatible with the rest of the phone. Soon apple will realease a new update fixxing these problems im sure i nthe next week or two, at the longest.

Same like me, i also having the same issues with my iphone 5 after new 7.0.6 update my iphone wifi would connect then drop, reconnect then drop. And the wifi signal becomes unstable, from full bar suddenly disappear, or only 1 bar. Never happened before.
I've done reset network settings, all settings, and doing a restore. same.

So i don't wanna do an update on my ipad, and my mom iphone, because this ios 7.0.6 is not stable.
